After two months full new experiences September was again time for other activities, most of them new for me.
During the first two weeks I took part at two different expeditions, the first weeks I was helping with the logistic part of the project, in the second one, instead, I had the opportunity to be on the field helping the instructors with the group. With the logistic part I've been helping around the house to prepare all the equipment needed for the expeditions and then delivering supplies to the camp sities whenever it was needed and there I had the opportunity to learn the basics of how to manage a project like that. During the same week I had also the chance to try rock-climbing: this was the first time for me and it was such an experience! The rock that we climbed wasn't that challenging at first sight so while I was helping the group with the climbing equipment et cetera I was pretty confident in trying it with no problem at all, but as soon my turn came, when I approached the rock, the fear started. In that moment I was scared as hell even though everything was done in a complete safety enviroment since both instructors and specialists were there to help and guide me but after I managed to fight my fear, reaching the top was one the best feeling I've ever felt in my entire life, defently worth it. That's it guys, soon I'll tell you more about my journey so stay tuned folks! :)

Always during the past August my parents came here to visit me after my first month and a half here. They had the chance to meet the persons I'm working with and where I live and I was really happy and relieved when I saw the look on their face and the approval smile that they had, cos we all know how it works, no matter how old we are, we'll always be our parent's kids and they will always take care of us. Of course, when I decided to come here they were happy but a bit worried, as I was as well, about how my would have been here, but when they came here they realised how happy I was of my choice and of my job here and their happiness was my biggest reward so far here. I could stay here and describe you step by step all the places that we visited in those days but I'll the pictures do the job. :) Ok everybody, let's start from here. The past August I spent two beatiful weeks in Veliki Žitnik, the small village where OBC has its educational center, for a short-term EVS that we organised. It was the first time that I was taking part to a project like this as a Staff member and I have to say, it was challenging of course but it was an amazing experience. We had a lot of fun but we also had the chance to meet amazing people, learn from them as they were learning from us. I was so impressed when I discovered how a short period of time like two weeks can leave such an important mark in you. The picture in the corner is maybe my favorite of that period, Rob and I went crazy as always eating peanuts and that was the result haha! I'm truly greatful to spend the most challenging and life-changing period of my life with him and the other volunteers, with them I'm free to be 100% myself with no fear of being left aside. This is EVS for me, this is what can clearly define my experience here so far. |
